HoboHero of the Month
In May of this year after we broke free of the bonds of higher education, my buddy Arcadiy and I engaged in a cross-country roadtrip of nearly Kerouacian proportions. Atlanta to San Jose, California is not like taking the Holland Tunnel, so we found some resources to be necessary.
I'm proud to say that due to our network of great friends across the land, we only had to pay to sleep one night, in progressive Salt Lake City, Utah. Every other night we rolled into a pitstop just in time to catch some dinner with our friends, who had all been kind enough to whip up a party for us each night.
First, we set up shop in Oxford, Ohio, where the local university population was just finishing their final exams and getting ready to graduate, so the good-time vibes were in the air. After a long night of going out, we stumbled back to our friends' apartment at two in the morning with even more fellow travelers in tow. No one wanted to retire for the evening, so I reached into the back of Arcadiy's car and with the help of an easily sourced liquor bottle we had an hour and a half of intersting conversation, fuelled by the coals over a delicous vanilla shisha atop the HoboHookah.
Fast-forward two nights to Denver / Boulder, Colorado, where our friend Dunia takes us for a night on the town in Boulder and then back to her remarkably well-decorated home... which comes complete with what I will call a "shisha nook," with oriental floor cushions, Middle Eastern art, an intricately wrought small table specifically for placing a hookah, and a very cool "wall" of candles. We didn't need any instructions. With the candles lit and the smoke from the HoboHookah lingering beautifully, I snapped this shot of Arcadiy exhaling victoriously.
With the Hobohookah, there is no risk of killing the buzz by smashing it in a moment of overzealous hose-reaching, and if you can't come up with a suitable base, you haven't been having a party anyway. It just goes to show - the Hobo can turn anyone into a party hero.

A Bit More Background On Hookahs (For The New Folks)...
Invented in the 1500’s in India, a hookah (also referred to as a Nargeeleh) is a water pipe designed to allow friends and family members to gather and socialize after a meal or during times of relaxation. The HoboHookah hit the scene so party pioneers could kick it up a notch and rock their hookah during that epic road trip, adventure across the world, or party across town.
Fine, shredded tobacco (referred to as shisha) is traditionally saturated in flavored molasses or fruit juices to produce a delightful aroma and cool, smooth flavor. A hookah coal is placed on top of the bowl to heat the shisha, and that’s what creates the smoke you inhale through the hookah hose. The tradition of enjoying hookahs has spread throughout the centuries and is currently enjoyed by people of all ages and walks of life.
