Review: Bohemian Hall and Beer Garden
New York saw a beautiful day on Saturday. Perfect temperatures, sunny, etc. All of the signs needed for this Party Pioneer to organize a little trip to the Bohemian Hall and Beer Garden across the East River in Astoria, Queens. Of course the HoboHookah was there to share.
For anyone in NYC or visiting, who hasn’t heard of the Bohemian Hall and Beer Garden (known in NYC as the Czech Beer Garden), its definitely in the Top 10 outdoor drinking spots in the city. The beer is great (Spaten was our favorite last night) and afforable (about $10-20/pitcher for good beer). The food is also awesome, albeit a little pricey for what you get ($9 for burgers, sausage or brick of fried cheese), cooked right on a grill out in the garden. So, even if you aren’t eatin, the place smells great. The Garden is huge as well, so its a great place for getting all of your friends together to drink beer and enjoy Polka music.
Aside from the price of food, there isn’t a while lot not to like about the Czech Beer Garden. Just watch out for nice days, where there can be over a 30min wait to get in (the line gets long, but moves fast). Also, they don’t except cards, so unless you want to get jacked by their in house ATM, bring plenty of cash.
As for rolling in there with the Hobohookah, there couldn’t be a more accomodating bar in NYC (we got 0 problems from the staff or security). We did get a lot of questions from other patrons, however, like: “They let you in with that?” “How’d you get that in here?” “Can I try it?”, of course we obliged with the right answers: The Hobo goes anywhere, its only tobacco, and when paired with a Nalgene bottle, any regular old bar (even really sweet out door venues like the Czech Beer Garden) can be turned into a hookah bar. Oh, and by all means, take a hit.
In fact, we are breaking with policy as of right now. We never wanted to sell you all bottles, cause honestly, you already have one that works. But we’ve liked trucking from bar to bar with the 32oz Nalgene narrow mouth so much, that we thought we’d make it easy for you to do the same. Head over to the Purchase page and add the Official Hobo Nalgene for one easy payment of $7.99. Throw your Hobo in its bag, clip on the Nalgene, and you have a party on your back.
