Rock Lords, and times of past
We sent a Hobo with our friend Lyn who was journeying south of the border. Here’s what he had to say upon his return:
On a warm Spring afternoon I sat slowly drawing the HoboHookah. I was in no particular train of thought at the time. All the sudden I had this rush of thoughts come into my head. I remembered a toy that I had as a small child. It was a shiny gold colored rock, that transformed into a robot with two red eyes. It was part of a force of good rock robots that battled evil rock robots in a series called Rock Lords. It’s name was Nugget.
I remembered how the toy looked and how it transformed. I thought about the edges of the toy, where the cheap metallic paint had chipped away, revealing a dingy, yellow colored plastic underneath. I didn’t understand this very well when I was a child, because I thought it was made of metal.
All of these thoughts came into my head in an instant. I would say in less than the span of a second. I haven’t thought about this particular toy, or Rock Lords since probably 1986-1987, two fucking decades ago. I don’t know why, but it just creeped me out for some reason. What could cause this? Why was I having a vivid flashback about a childhood toy without any provocation?
I am not a religious person. However, I can see where episodes like this must have inspired people to believe in religious deities. I then thought how Einstein hypothesized that the Universe was shaped like a donut, and my flashback seemed to make a little more sense.
I took another slow pull on the Hobohookah, and decided to let my mind wander a bit further…
