Iranian Hookah Pipes

If you want to go old school, I mean, really, really old school, you would be hard up to find a more traditional hookah pipe than those coming from Iran.

Iranians typically smoke the traditional, Tombeik tobacco, a traditional straight tobacco which is a little lighter than the molasses’d Egyptian Zhargoul. As such, these Iranian hookahs have a lacquered hand carved wooden stem.

I tried Tombeik for the first time in Oman, in the traditional Iranian district of north-east Muscat. The tobacco is heavy and the pipes are beautiful. If you love cigars and pipe tobacco, this is a great find for your arsenal.

Due to the wooden stem, these pipes are not recommended to be smoked with regular shisha-tobacco, but are great for Tombeik or even fine pipe tobacco from your local tobacconist.
